SUMMARY OF THOUGHTS: Of course this PG-13 remake doesn’t hold a candle to the R rated 1987 classic and the lack of social satire is greatly missed but it does score points with great performances, entertaining action, great CGI effects and for taking on a life of its own without ripping off the original.

Grade: B-

A fun, well produced remake that has a promising second and third act. Too bad that the first act provided very small development, therefore most of the development was left to the second act, which was very strange to watch. The performances are great, the CGI is fantastic and I am hoping for a sequel… Maybe even “R” rated? RoboCop is definitely one you need to check out.

Grade: B

This RoboCop remake, I feel, is rather respectable and pretty cool. It entertains and brings a few new ideas to the table. Of course, you can’t help but compare this to the far superior ’87 classic and when you do that, this film is beyond second rate, especially sense it has lost the brilliant social satire of the original. However, because it’s not a carbon copy of the original and Gary Oldman gives the film a lot of heart, I give this remake credit and I can’t deny I enjoyed it.

Not as good as your dad’s Robocop. But still a decent popcorn Sci-Fi flick. The idea that eventually we will be policed by robots will keep people coming back to this and the original.

It’s definitely one of the better remakes I’ve seen. I love the original 1987 film so much and obviously the remake isn’t as good as the original which I honestly didn’t expect anyways. I just wanted a good remake and that’s exactly what I got. No it’s not because of the fact it’s PG-13 that I prefer the original. I honestly don’t care if a movie is PG-13 or R, movies shouldn’t be judged on what the MPAA rating is, it should be based on if it’s actually going to be good or not. At least that’s how I see it. The suits look badass, the performances were solid all-around, the action was cool mainly in the second half, and I thought the storyline was very interesting. The film does get slow and takes a while to finally get to the point and you don’t see RoboCop in action until the second half of the film so the first half of the film was a filler in some aspects but I did appreciate that they gave it time for story and character development but maybe a little too much time though. I also thought the villains of the film were pretty weak. Michael Keaton is the stand-out and the only useful villain for the film. This is a nice film to watch on Valentine’s Day and I was pleased with the overall experience.

Its not perfect and has its many flaws, but I am so surprise how much I enjoyed this really well made remake. It really tried and succeeded at being its own film then a total copy of the Great Original from the 1980s!!! I hope we get an amazing sequel from this and hopefully a brand new franchise as well!!! I would love a R Rated Violent Sequel!!! with some satire!!!

They did not try to replicate the original but still tried to keep the spirit of the original. I think they accomplished that. A fun, entertaining film with a fantastic performance by Gary Oldman. Though I did miss the gore honestly.

Grade: B

A slow, formulaic, but solid action flick with great CGI, some good performances, and overall is a fun movie that’s definitely worth seeing on the big screen

It was only a matter of time before “RoboCop” got slapped with a remake. Was it necessary to drag another piece of nostalgia out of the 80s? No, but at least “RoboCop” fares better than other recent remakes, boldly shifting the focus and overall origin story. Too bad this version of “RoboCop” was watered down to run-of-the-mill PG-13 violence.

Grade: B-

A decent remake that tries to do its own thing and not copy the original. The story is the strongest element of the film with a message about the current state of the world. The acting is fine all around with the strongest performance going to Michael Keaton as the leader of OmniCorp. The action is the weakest link of the film as it isn’t all that interesting and tends to drag on. I think overall its a solid entry in this franchise but not at all memorable like the original.

Grade: B-

The RoboCop remake features some welcome story changes, a strong supporting cast (with Gary Oldman standing out), and a high-octane action sequences. However, the film loses steam far too quickly and Joel Kinnaman is only okay in the lead — making it difficult to care too much.

This was better than I expected! It’s definitely one of the better remakes in recent years. We all knew this wasn’t gonna surpass the original, but it’s still an entertaining good time at the movies. It isn’t a perfect movie, but it’s decent. All I wanted was to not hate this film and I didn’t hate it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton were excellent as was Samuel L. Jackson. Joel Kinnaman did a decent job as RoboCop. Abbie Cornish, who’s extremely hot, did good as Murphy’s wife. The only person that bothered me in this cast was Jay Baruchel, I thought he was funny in This Is The End, but in this, he stinks, he annoyed the shit out of me. Anyways, decent remake, better than I thought it would be. Just don’t see this without seeing the original.
