Watching film was just a hobby for Tyler Christian until he finally had the opportunity to see Quentin’s Tarantino “Pulp Fiction” in 2008. After that, he realized there’s something more than just entertainment to be had in watching movies. He soon began making trips to Blockbuster (when it was intact) every few days and came back home with 5-10 movies to watch. In addition, he set himself up with a website to write short reviews on the films he would watch.
His film addiction increased over the years, and he soon began writing reviews on RottenTomatoes under the username alias “wxdeadpoolmwam.” He wrote a total of 114 movie reviews during the time lapse of April 2010-April 2011. His review of “Invictus” got him the most attention as it was featured on the site’s homepage for “Member Review of the Day.” During his run of RottenTomatoes, he was also featured on six episodes of the “The Rotten Tomatoes Show” under the username “CaliCritic.” Tyler was living the dream as a freelance film critic but something was still missing for him.
Tyler was first introduced to the world of YouTube critics in early 2010. Inspired to do the same, he cycled through three reviewing channels until he settled on “CaliCriticReviews” in December 2010, a name which also referred back to his appearances on the aforementioned show.
Tyler is studying at UC-Irvine and plans on transferring to a Los Angeles film school to fulfill his dream of becoming a filmmaker. He continues to show his insight on movies both on Youtube, and on his text review website “CaliCritic’s Corner.” We at WeLiveFilm are happy to have Tyler on board as combo reviewer as a written and YouTube critic.
